While used for restless legs syndrome, it is not recommended for this purpose. It can be taken by mouth or used intravenously. Malaria that is resistant to Quinate occur in certain areas of the world.Quinine is a quinoline derivative that binds to DNA of Plasmodium, forms a complex, inhibits DNA replication and RNA transcription, thereby inhibiting protoplast protein synthesis and is less weak than chloroquine. In addition, quinine can reduce the consumption of malaria parasite oxygen, inhibition of phosphatase in Plasmodium and interfere with its sugar metabolism.
Quinine also causes malaria agglutination, but develops slowly, rarely forms large clumps, and is often accompanied by cell death. Electron microscopy, visible protozoa nucleus and outer membrane swelling, and a small vacuole, blood cell particles in small bubbles within the polymerization, which is different from the chloroquine pigment agglutination. In the blood, a certain concentration of quinine can lead to parasitic erythrocyte premature rupture, thereby preventing the schizont ripening.
The goods on the infrared phase is invalid, long course of treatment can cure falciparum malaria, but the falciparum gametophyte no direct effect, it can not interrupt the spread.
